Retirement expected within five years

Within five years of retiring? Map the paycheck first.

The move from saving to spending creates decisions that are easy to postpone: when income begins, which expenses must be protected, and how much stays liquid. The Retirement Paycheck Map is an educational review — not a product presentation.

Complimentary and educational. A licensed specialist reviews it with you by Zoom or phone in about 20 minutes — no product presentation.

What your Retirement Paycheck Map shows

  • Essential spending you must cover regardless of market conditions
  • Reliable income already scheduled to begin, and when it starts
  • The remaining income gap, in dollars per month
  • The liquidity reserve you want available in the first years

What a good outcome looks like

A completed worksheet, documented alternatives, and one clear next action — whether or not an annuity turns out to be appropriate.

The questions we work through

  • Which expenses must be paid regardless of market conditions?
  • What dependable income begins at retirement — and when?
  • How much cash should remain immediately accessible?

How the follow-through works

  1. Day 0: Send the checklist and two meeting choices.
  2. Day 2: Call with the five-year checkpoint conversation.
  3. Day 6: Share one income-gap example.
  4. Day 12: Invite to the retirement countdown session.
  5. Day 21: Close the loop with two appointment options.

You decide the pace. At any point you can ask us to follow up later or close the loop entirely.

Common questions

Five-Year Retirement Checkpoint: the questions people ask first

How much monthly income will I actually have in retirement?+

Add the income already scheduled to arrive — Social Security, any pension, rental or business income — then compare it with the expenses you must pay no matter what the market does. The difference, in dollars per month, is your income gap. That number, not your account balance, decides how much of your savings has to be converted into a paycheck.

What should I do in the five years before I retire?+

Lock down the sequence: when income starts, which expenses are protected first, how much cash stays liquid for the early years, and what your tax picture looks like once paychecks stop. Decisions made in this window — pension election, Social Security timing, Roth conversions — are largely irreversible afterward.

Is a 20-minute review really enough to be useful?+

It is enough to produce one page: essential expenses, scheduled income, the gap, and your liquidity reserve. It is not enough to design a full plan, and nothing is recommended in it. You leave with the worksheet and one clear next action, whether or not you ever work with us.

This review is educational and is not tax, legal, or accounting advice, and is not an offer or solicitation. Annuities are long-term insurance products that may involve fees, surrender charges, withdrawal limits, and tax consequences; guarantees depend on the claims-paying ability of the issuing insurer. Bank deposits and annuity contracts are not protected in the same manner. Rollovers and replacements are evaluated as balanced decisions, including the option to keep what you have. We coordinate with — and never substitute for — your tax and legal professionals.
